Board and Train Services For a Head Start on Your Dog’s Training
Live-in board and train program for busy dog owners in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the surrounding area
You know how important training is; we can give you a head start.
Board and Train is an excellent solution for dog owners who know their dog needs the training, and want to ensure their dog receives the most effective (and humane) training available.
Canine clients who board and train will learn new skills while living in-home with Michele. Focusing on the training goals we’ve set together, we’ll work one-on-one with your dog’s individual needs, ensuring the best possible training plan for your dog.
By the end of your dog’s stay, they’ll be well on their way to an impressive set of new skills, and we’ll schedule a free follow-up session so you’re feeling confident about maintaining your dog’s training.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I expect from board and train?
Board and train is an excellent opportunity to give you a head start on your dog’s training. During your dog’s stay, you’ll receive daily updates, progress reports, and after your dog’s stay we’ll include a complimentary follow-up session to make sure you’re feeling confident and able to continue your dog’s progress.
What kinds of issues can you address in board and train?
We can work on a variety of issues during board and train, including (but not limited to):
- Basic manners
- Leash Reactivity
- Aggression
- Mouthiness
- Counter Surfing
- Resource Guarding
- and much more
What guarantees do you offer?
An ethical dog trainer won’t make any guarantees for behavior. This is because of the variability from dog to dog. Just like humans, dogs are individuals, and we will never disrespect a client or a dog by promising unrealistic goals.
That said, we do guarantee to treat you and your dog as individuals and commit that we will consider both your situation and goals, and your dog’s history, temperament and abilities, to formulate a science-based, positive training plan for you and your dog.
Do you take behavior issues for board and train?
We do work with dogs who have behavior issues, and often find that the board and train setting is an excellent opportunity to set your dog up for success. Because we only take 2-3 boarders at a time, we’re able to safely work on a thorough behavior plan for your dog’s issues.
How long does a dog stay for board and train?
Unlike many board and train programs, not only do we use only humane and positive training, but we do not have a required period for dogs to stay. In order to make effective training changes, we do suggest at least a two-week stay.
How long does training take?
It depends! The length of training will depend on a variety of factors, including (but not limited to):
- The severity of the behavior issue
- Underlying causes for the behavior
- Your dog’s temperament and personality
- How long your dog has been displaying these issues
- Underlying health issues
- Genetic and breed factors
That said, most dogs make great progress in a board and train setting and we’re able to reliably set their families up for success at pick-up. We’d love to discuss your particular situation!
Where will my dog sleep?
We believe that dogs are family, and should be treated as such. There are no kennels at Sirius Positive Dog Training. Depending on your dog’s temperament and your preferred routine, your dog will sleep in a crate or dog bed in our home, and we’ll create a structured routine for enrichment, exercise, and most importantly, training.
